Sage to Epicor ERP Sales Office Migration

The Challenge

A global manufacturing group maintained regional sales offices across Europe: United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Each office operated independently on siloed instances of legacy Sage ERP software.

This fragmentation created major operational obstacles:

• Customer masters and pricing agreements were maintained separately, causing cross-border pricing inconsistencies for multinational accounts.
• Headquarters lacked real-time visibility into open European sales orders and regional inventory commitments.
• Each jurisdiction had distinct local statutory requirements: UK VAT, French TVA and accounting codes, and German tax compliance rules.

The Solution

I served as the technical lead for the sales office rollout, delivering onsite execution in the UK and France, and remote deployment for German operations:

• Legacy Data Extraction & Cleansing: Audited historical Sage databases to extract customer master records, ship-to addresses, open order lines, and historical pricing schedules. Developed SQL cleansing scripts to resolve duplicate entries and missing tax identifiers.
• DMT (Data Migration Tool) Execution: Structured standardized DMT templates to import master and transactional data into Epicor across multi-company environments, running sequential test loads to validate relational integrity.
• Multi-Currency & European Tax Setup: Configured European currency tables (GBP, EUR), automated daily exchange rate feeds, and aligned localized tax engines to ensure compliant VAT reporting for HMRC, the French Direction Générale des Finances Publiques, and German authorities.
• Standardized Order Entry & User Training: Designed streamlined Order Entry workflows, trained local sales coordinators onsite, and conducted cutover dry runs ensuring zero disruption to daily customer fulfillment.

The Results

The rollout unified all European commercial operations under a single corporate Epicor infrastructure:

• Single Source of Truth: Executive leadership gained instant, consolidated visibility of European pipeline demand and backlog.
• Zero Cutover Downtime: All three sales branches transitioned on schedule with complete historical data continuity.
• Standardized Operations: Common workflows enabled cross-office sales coverage during peak seasons and standardized international customer pricing.
